Go by Taxi provides indicative taxi fare estimates to help travellers plan and avoid being overcharged. Here is exactly where our numbers come from and how we keep them current.

Where our fare data comes from

Official / published meter tariffs — the regulated starting fee and per-kilometre rate for each city, where published.
Automated price collection — our crawlers gather and refresh local taxi rates across cities and countries.
Google business listings — verified, listed taxi companies and their public details.
Driver- and user-reported fares — real prices submitted by drivers and passengers. You can report a fare if something looks off.

How an estimate is calculated

Base fare Per-km rate Distance Estimate

For a route, we take the city's base (start) fee plus its per-kilometre rate, multiplied by the driving distance of the trip (routed over real roads). Prices are shown in your local currency using up-to-date exchange rates. Night and tip adjustments shown on some pages are optional estimates, not official surcharges.

How often it's updated

Rates are refreshed regularly by our automated collection and by new community reports. Where available, pages show when the fare data was last verified.
